“Colour is for me the strongest motivation, the way I try to convey emotion. The feelings I am most concerned with are often linked with a particular response to the landscape, my experience of being in a particular landscape. I like to believe that this is the timeless element of the world, and hope that even if we destroy ourselves the landscape will survive. I try to express gentleness, stillness, contemplativeness, timelessness, sometimes old fashion notions about grace, elegance, and even joy.”
